How to play:

About the game:

This game is a prototype for an incremental side-scroller where you play as Bob, a homeless man in a fictional post-Soviet country, trying to survive.

Beg, steal, gather bottles for deposit, do everything you can to earn money, and last one more night.

Features:

  • Begging for money
  • Stealing from NPCs
  • Collecting bottles from trash cans and depositing them for money
  • Hiding inside trash cans
  • Day-night cycle
  • Procedurally generated NPCs

This is an early prototype made in just a few months and set aside since. As such, it is still missing these features:

  • Progression system
  • Upgrades
  • Shops
  • No sound or sound effects

Art and Animation:

All art has been done in Adobe Illustrator and animated in After Effects

If you keep tapping the W button on a trash can you can make him levitate and escape the town.

Thanks for checking out the game! I knew about that bug, but by the time I found it, the project was already shelved, so I left it as is. I never realized you could escape the map with it, though. Nice catch!

Enjoy Bob begging on top of a trash can.

The hiding/stealing functions don't seem to work. No matter how many times I hit "w," Bob just kinda stands there doing nothing.

Hey! Thanks for checking out the game and reporting a bug! On my end, it works fine, and Bob rolls into the bin, so it might just be a browser, keyboard layout, or setup quirk, not entirely sure. I’ve added a couple of extra keys ("F" and "Tab") to see if those work for you.

If they don’t, I’m sorry, as this is just a prototype and a shelved project, so I don’t currently have plans to debug it further.

Scratch that! I think I figured it out. You can’t hide while in stealth mode (I know, it doesn’t make much sense). So be sure to get out of stealth before hiding in the bin.

Also, when you fail to steal something, it pulls you back out of stealth, so you don't need to click Ctrl

Awesome. I'll give this another look when I get home. The art style is fun, and the GTA: Salvation Army vibe it has is a good time!
